Default ignition switch

Had to replace ignition lock on my 63. I tightened the 3 notched lock bezel and installed new lock cylinder. Tested key and it turned pretty hard and wouldn't release from the start position. Took lock back out and backed off the bezel and now key works ok. i have the bezel only finger tight . Is the bezel supposed to be tight or can i just leave it finger tight? I don't want to screw the cluster panel or the switch up. thanks

Not an expert but they sell a tool to help remove and tighten the bevel so my guess is it should be tight.

There are a couple of different nuts, the 66-67 is taller, maybe you do not have the right one? Do you have an aftermarket switch? If so, you need to have the depth set properly. .

The nut won't come off or go on if the key cylinder is in the switch – maybe I'm misunderstanding your recommendation...

Unless the switch housing is moving around in the hole, it is tight enough. Of course if it does move with key motion, it will eventually cause some wear in the hole or switch housing. I can't offer a solution as I have never had this problem.
