Default Adding AC

Interested in adding AC to my 64 Convertible. Car has never had AC. I've been told Vintage Air is the best unit. Looking for opinions and where to get it installed. I'm in Baton Rouge, LA.

They have really cheapened the quality of the vintage air unit. I have been having better luck with classic air.

I installed a VA unit in my 66 about 10 years ago, so I can't speak for the newer units, but my black/black coupe stays cool inside in the Florida sun. It took me about 20 hours to do the install. I could do it in about 10 now. That said, the install is straight forward and can be done at home. Take your time and there is help here on the forum. Good luck. Jerry

I have installed a lot of Vintage Air Systems in Classics. The hardest part is always removing all of the OEM system and ductwork. From there the install is very straight forward.

I always use Reduced Barrier Hoses and fittings. Make it much easier and neater to run them.

I would urge you to do the install yourself. A shop will typically charge around $2500-$3000 labor only to install.

I have Classic Air in my 67 BBC Black on Black Coupe (installed already when I bough the car). I cools well here in Florida and I'm happy with it. I do believe VA has a little better under dash ducts
