Default Rear Differential

I have a rear differential from a 65 corvette and am trying to see if it is original to the car. Cast marking on the input side seems to be ‘389914’. Near the driver’s side output shaft shows ‘B65’. The vin says this car was built in November of 64 (102243). Can I get some help here from the guru’s?

Should be evident a Casting date of February 5 1965 couldnt have been in a Corvette that was built in November 1964.

It could also be 1975, IIRC that reinforced bracket didn't come out until 1968.Turn it over and get the stamped information near the parting line.

I turned it over and had to clean off some grime with some gunk remover and a wire brush, but I couldn't see any stamping on the differential body-side of the flange. Looking at your picture, I'm not sure if I should have been cleaning up and looking at the cover flange. I'll take another run at it in a bit, but if there is no stamping, does that tell any story? Perhaps a GM replacement part?

Look at the road side - bottom of the diff and you should find the numbers.

Look harder, in the right place. Pay attention to the location in the pictures provided.
