As I continue to wait for my tires to arrive from Diamondback, I come across an old set of American wheels. A set of four 15" x 7" with 1/2" positive setback. I simply couldn't resist them. Not like I was lacking for stuff to do!
I cleaned them with a brillo pad, followed with 800 grit wet sandpaper. Followed that with a few applications of "never dull" product. Finished up with Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish.
Painted the spokes with a bronze color paint!
Now I'm going to have to order another set of tires so I can switch them out once in awhile.
I'm thinking a set of Avons would fit perfectly on these rims!
I have always liked the look of the American Racing Wheels on a Corvette. Mine are 8 1/2 x 15 ARE wheels, but I don't know exactly what model they are. It only says American Racing Equipment on the back. I have always wanted at least one more for a spare or a back-up but have never found ones exactly like mine. They came off a C2 race car many years ago and I have had them for 48 years. Was in a car show recently and won best pre 90's Corvette and Best Wheels. I belong to NCRS but will never replace my wheels with stock looking ones. The wheels really set the car off.

Beautiful '69 there Robert! I actually wish I had a little more gold in the bronze finish.
Nice find and nice restoration!!
Mine are 55 year old 15X6 Magnesium TTs
In my opinion these are the best looking wheels on these cars.
Not sure how to tell the age of the one's I picked up. Obviously, they don't have the "D" identified for disc brakes. Not sure if they still kept making them without the disc brake revision or not. The seller told me he took them off a '67 El Camino many years ago.
Like many have already stated....they are timeless!
Are those 2 separate styles of ARs? It appears like the spokes are deeper where they meet the rim on 2. The 2 in the foreground have a bit more cut for disc calipersff? Correct me if I'm wrong. I've been looking for friggin ever for the 2 wider spoke variety to match up with 2 15x6 fronts. Super wheels!!
If you are looking to purchase Avon tires, you might want to do it soon. Rumor has it that they will cease production at the end of 2023. There are several You Tube video's discussion this, including the one in the link below.

I looked these over several times to ensure they matched. As far as I could tell, they all matched. Front, back, spokes and script on the back.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think these would work on disc brakes. None of them have the "D" script on the back, but I haven't tried to place them on anything with disc brakes either.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
