Does the "R" mean its a replacement block? No VIN # on the pad. This is in a 60, but probably not the original motor.

I read it as a 1963 327 250hp from a passenger car. R 63 327 250 4B,MT PA

Looks like an April 10, 1963 casting. And, Jack beat me to the rest of it. I agree with what Jack posted.

There's no VIN stamp because while all Corvettes got the VIN stamped on the block starting in 1960, prior to 68, other Chevrolet's only got VIN's stamped on engines of 300 horse power or more. After 68 Federal law required all car engines to have a VIN on them.
