Default L88

Hello all. I have an L 88 motor less than manifold and carburetor. I’ve had it for approximately 20 years and was intending to do a build around it. As things change, I was considering selling it. I was wondering if anyone around here give me the value of it. I’ve had some people look at it, and lowball me tell me it’s not a real L 88. However, the most experienced guy just came back and said they would give me my asking price which was more than two years ago. I figure they know it’s real as I am sure it is. Thanks in advance for y’all’s opinions.

well that changes everything that is a real GM stamp saying it is a L88. if there is no vin stamp it would be a over the counter crate engine. posting this in the C3 side or joining NCRS and posting this would yield your best results

Default L88 thread

Moderator, could you move this to the C3 section? Not sure if it’s possible, but I thought I’d try.

I'd keep your thread here and just post a new one on the C3 forum:

I’m not sure the intake is correct. It’s an L72 casting (069) and I understood the L88 version of that casting for the 67 L88 after the interior plenum was milled out was stamped 336093 next to the cast in number. It’s not correct for an L88 for 68 or 69 as it lacks the top mounted boss for the heater hose connection. A 3933198 intake was used for the L88 in 1969. The heads are 69 L88 open chamber heads. A nice engine.

no I'm sure there is some documented 69 L88 without its original engine that would love to have that

I believe I have a correct intake and carburetor (new Holley reproduction) for that engine. If you’d be interested, let me know…..
