Default Spare tire.

I was removing the spare tire carrier in order to install a new gas tank and the full sized spare said this... Is this of some importance?

Its a donut tire. This was the spare before they came up with runflats.
The domut tire was small and did not take up as much room as a full size tire.
Your tire is ready for the trash.

Temporary means just that. Get the flat replaced or repaired asap. You see many a car driving down the road at 75mph until it blows. That is not the bright thing to do.

Many of us get these for our cars since tires these day won't allow the lid to close enough. As mentioned they are to get you to a repair service ASAP. You don't necessarily need to throw it out, just check it and look for a DOT date of manufacture. Many Chevy S-10 and equal GM car had these. Dennis

If you are running the factory specified tires get rid of that spare and buy another tire like the ones you are running. It will fit in the tire tub but it takes a little maneuvering to get the tire up in the carrier. It has to go in level which is tough given the angle the carrier takes on when lowered.
Longer bolts in the front helps a lot but lifting the tray as level as possible helps.
