Steering wheel replace
My 65yo steering wheel has seen better days. I pulled it but the hub is still attached.
How do you remove the hub from the old sw and then install it on the new steering wheel?
You have to drill out the rivets if you want to reuse the original hub and bell. There's a fastener kit sold by Corvette vendors for about $25 that includes what they call "special rivets", but are basically a counter sunk unslotted head screw with nuts and washers. Once installed they look like the original rivets. Actually there's two different kits, one for use with reproduction wheels, and a second to use if you're reattaching an original wheel. So you need to make sure you get the right kit for your wheel.
