Hello forum,
I have a March of 1965 built convertible no air conditioning.
I see 2 different battery hold downs listed with the various vendors.
One has an attached heat shield and the other does not.
My question is what was originally installed?
Thank you,
Marshal
Marshal - The non A/C cars had the battery hold-down with the heat shield for the passenger side mounted tray. The A/C cars and 65 L78s had the battery on the drivers side and were
far enough away from the exhaust system to not require a heat shield as part of the hold down assembly.

Mike,
post thought… will it fit with a group 34 battery?
I hope it is a drop in part.
Thanks
Marshal
Group 34 is the same width and length as a Group 24 (stock size battery)...however, it is one inch shorter in height. It will fit in the tray correctly, but I don't know if the hold down will work (not that familiar with '65 hold down bracket)

Hey Marshal - Yes indeed, the Group 34 batteries will fit and that's my preference over the original Group 24 batteries because 34s are a bit shorter and, at least to me, a bit easier to
wrangle into place. The Group 24's are roughly 8 7/8 inches tall, the Group 34's are 7 7/8 inches tall. I use the 34s in all my midyears.
