I have a 66 SB roadster. I am doing a frame off and recently dropped the tranny. I believe the cast number is right - 3885010. The last 8 of my vin is stamped on the tranny, so I believe it is numbers matching. Can anyone tell me what the ‘P0309’ means? Pictures below for reference. Also, what gives with the raised chicken scratch. Seems like the mold was written on. I read (backwards) an “I” and an “S” and “5-5”. Is that normal?

For reference, my car’s birthday is 3/15/66 (G15 on the trim tag).

Here are a couple of links:

Your P0309 it the build date at the Muncie factory: P=Muncie, 03= March, 09= 9th day.
The 010 case is indeed correct for a 1966 car. It has the 1" counter shaft.
Your partial VIN stamped on the case indicates it is original to your car. It appears to be a M20. You probably have a 3.36 or 3.08 rear gear.
There is another site, 4-speeds something that is a good reference also, but I have lost my shortcut to it.

Just a side note if you're not aware, but the G15 on your Trim Tag is the body build date, not the production date of the car.
