I came across this cool picture online and my curiosity had me wondering where it was taken. Based on the Bobb Howard auto shop in the background, I believe it's New Hyde Park, NY.
It looks like that 63 had a front end accident and the nose was replaced with a 67. I worked at a Mobil and later a Shell station in the early 70s. Fuel was usually under 30 cents per gallon. In fact, our pumps could not charge more than 99 cents. Long gone are the S&H green stamps, giving away a glass with a fill up, an attendant checking your oil and tire pressure. At the station I worked, the head mechanic would routinely clean brakes with compressed air while smoking. Jerry

Yes, that is our Transmission Shop that closed about 10 years ago when my brother retired.
Our Auto Repair Shop, which was the first shop our parents opened in 1946, is still in business around the corner on Lakeville Road, and run by the next generation of the family.
I pumped gas in 70-71 at a Sinclair station and we had little Dinos to hand out. I still have a tiger tail for my 59. Remember them ? Pretty girl would come in for a fillup , I always cleaned her windshield !
I wonder why he parked like that to get gas. An afterthought?
Either A) there was another car at the Regular pump when he pulled in, or B) he wanted to include the street scene along with the car
Any other guesses?
And Pop Chevy, I remember those tiger tails! It was a big deal for a while, I think it was Esso? "Put a Tiger In Your Tank". I remember a a competing station in Billings MT, across the street from an Esso, had one of those changeable signs reading "TIGER FUZZ FILTERED OUT"
