I've never worried much about it. Drive it around a little and engage/disengage a few times. I know some MFG's talk about doing it in cycles...but it's either OK or not.
When I replaced them at the track, it was about 1/8 mile to the staging lanes. A couple of all out passes meant it was good. I never broke in a clutch, but did break a few on the launch.
New McLeod clutches suggest 1500 clutch presses. My wife counted on her drive home from work, about 12 miles on back roads, that she pushed it in 108 times. So 15 trips somewhere and good to go!
