Hello...so I am new to the forum but know the value of the vast knowledge out there so thank you in advance and will certainly be asking more/other questions in the future.
I recently purchase one of my uncles cars that has been sitting for 40-45 years it is a 1960 c1 with a vin # of 00867s101420
when I purchased I knew it was not the original engine based on the engine number but the mystery continues here is what I have below and a bit confused but...
engine number 4120253 F0613RE
block 3782870
heads. 3774692
intake man 3844461
carb. Holley 2818
do I have a 60 car with a 62-64 engine block (340 hp?) with 61 older style heads and a 64 intake and carb? any info would be appreciated!!!
this is a family car that grew up admiring you won't hurt my feelings because I love this thing and hoping to get it as a driver over the winter...just trying to solve the mystery of the car!

4120253 - the 20,253 Corvette produced in 1964 (4 is model year, 1 is a place holder, last five digits of the serial number) F0613RE- Flint cast engine built June 13, 1964 as a 327 cu. in / 365 hp engine with a 4 barrel carburetor and a manual transmission for a Corvette.
What I was able to find on the heads was 1960-67 283. 1.72 intake valve 1.50 exhaust. Probably have to check the date code to narrow it down any more than that
I thought they were 283 heads as well but just don't understand why you would use them on this engine...to use the existing exhaust and exhaust manifolds?
does it matter? should I look for heads for this engine that match?
Thank you!
I don't really know why they would have put those heads on that engine either. The exhaust should have bolted right up. I'f you want to gain some performance, the heads that match the rest of your engine should pick it up some for sure.
