[C1] 61 No Start
At gas station car could not start, no sound.
What could this be? Starter solenoid?
usually you get warning sounds.
Thanks in advance.
Now, stuck at gas station mechanic reports fuse for battery burnt.
what does this mean now, short in wires?
20 years ago I changed all wires on my 58 because of spliced wires.
Thanks
First, clean the battery terminals. Check for headlights and horn indicating the battery has a charge.
Second, try jumping the solenoid from the battery terminal to the S terminal with a screw driver. (use an old screw driver as it will burn it if the battery is good).
If the engine turns over with the starter, but will not start and have fuel at the carburetor, then you get into checking the points, condenser, coil, resistor wire, coil wire, etc.
You can try a 12ga jumper wire from the positive side of the coil to the positive battery post if you want to hot wire it temporarily for a short drive home (10 miles or so).
gas station guy said battery terminal and starter was loose.
friend got his car able to start, and got car home.
I told friend to start up car everyday to see if there is a short that develops.
