[C2] Steering Column Bracket/holder?

Steering Column Bracket/holder?
Anyone know what this empty holder is for?It’s mounted to the base of my steering column under the dash. Looks like it could hold a flashlight or something? 1965 coupe.

Interesting, I have a new spare ignition coil besides other small parts (points, condenser, plug wire, etc.) in my travel tool bag maybe you could clip in a back up ignition coil just in case?

Look in an old JC Whitney catalog. It's a beer bottle holder for when you get pulled over by the cops. <totally pulling your leg>
