Default Original C1 ‘62

I am finishing up having my ‘62 restored. I realized, after paint 🤦‍♀️, that there was so rear emblem. It doesn’t look like there ever was one. Is this possible? Did they make one without the emblem? I ended up finding another trunk lid with the hole for it. On mine, the hole is ready to be cutout from underneath, but the spine on the outside is not emblem-ready.
thoughts?

A lot of body modifications were done back in the day (fender flares, chrome/emblem elimination, bumper removal).

Thank you for that. It just looks like factory lid. This is a 3 owner ( second owner only had it for a minute) all numbers matching car. Is the emblem removed something they could have ordered from the factory?

I would think that if you looked at your lid from underneath, you could tell if it's been modified.

Or if you take pictures so we can see what it looks like from underneath, maybe we could tell?

Did you ever hear of a car being "nosed and decked'? That means to remove the front and rear emblems, and fill in the holes. Pretty popular customizing thing in the old days.

Yes, you have found the only 62 with the rare emblem elimination option. It was only a myth before and now you have discovered it proving that the secret RPO code did exist. You will be remembered in Corvette lore as the keen detective. Bravo. High five. Haha.
