In addition to the .035 gap, here is some more pertainent info: Most plugs come from the factory with the proper gap, so most simply need a verification that they are correct. If you run into one that is off and you have to bend the side electrode to get it within spec, be sure the side electrode is roughly parallel to the center electrode. If it is at an angle, you may be measuring the gap only to the tip and not to the flat part of the electrode.
