Default ID for FI unit needed.

I have an engine for a corvette that has an FI unit with part number 7017360. The Plenum looks like a 63 through 65 fuel injection Plenum but the numbers 7017360 seem to correlate to a 1962 fuel injected engine with the flat top Plenum. My question is did 7017360 exist on 1963 engines. Thanks in advance for your input.

7360 is a '62 FI unit. Period. We're gonna need to see pictures of this unit and it's tag.

I will try to get some pictures later today. It’s definitely confusing.

It is possible that I am confusing the six for an eight, but I’ll try and get better pictures as my eyes aren’t what they used to be.

7380 would make sense as it is a Sting Ray model. That model was used all of '65 and most of '64

Yep, like Jim said, the 7380 is 65 and partial 64 model year.
The 7360 is ONLY for 62. And, of the early style FI units, the 7360 was the very best and most dependable.

Everything checks out. You've got a 7380 unit, correct for most of '64 and all of '65.

So likely this is an L84 installed in a 1957 Vette. I do also have the original engine for the car when I purchased it With the original fuel injection system rebuilt. It runs very well with this engine, so I may just drive it for a while and enjoy it and then worry about restoring the original engine. Things to contemplate.

All you know for sure is that you have a 7380 FI unit. Having it sez nothing about the engine under it. It could be anything.

Have you checked to see if there is a VIN stamped on the plenum? It would be on the passenger side under the vacuum port OR it COULD be stamped into the front of the plenum. That's an early unit so it may have not been stamped.

Also, what distributor do you have? 070, 022, 914?

Cool looking engine.

Definitely an interesting set up... 64/65 380 FI, but electric choke, and I don't recognize the air meter adaptor? 61-62?

The air meter adapter (actually, the whole air cleaner) is 57 FI only.

This is what 58-62 air meter adapters look like.

For MANY years, I had a 57 air cleaner on the 56 Vette. Then when I finally added a 57 airbox, the 57 air cleaner went into a box and has been on the shelf for 30+YRS.
