Not for everyone but I did eliminate mine when I rebuilt the steering assembly on my 66 327. No perceptible difference noted by the elimination.
I've been told about not really needing one, but I would like it there anyway. mine feels like a worn out shock absorber. when I push it in it feels like there is nothing there. probably original.

I have two, neither would be date correct IIRC, but fully functional. One black, one gray. Both have the bracket and nuts&bolts to attach to the relay rod.

send me a pm if interested
thanks, I'm going to wait bit on a new one, but if that doesn't happen, I'll contact you. I would need the black one. what is the date on yours?
the man that is rebuilding my front suspension called his source at o'reilly with the dimensions and has come up with a steering damper. I will wait and see if it fits ok. thanks.
everyone has them on back order. however we got one from o'reilly auto parts that fits and works right. it's Monroe SC2961. no, it's not NCRS correct, but it works fine for a non-original driver like my '66.
