Used Heddman fender well exit headers into factory side pipes. Had the new headers coated inside and out by Jet Hot before installing. Can’t tell if there was any thermal benefit.
WOW, those headers do get hot. At least they will look new for a long time if ceramic coated.
Every little bit helps when trying to reduce the heat of the engine esp a BB. Maybe CC can
help with that.
Good luck
I had header sidepipes on another car which were just painted with VHT when I purchased the car. I later had them ceramic coated. The ceramic coating provided a very nice durable finish and I recommend it for that reason. I couldn't tell any difference in heat radiation, but I never actually checked the difference between the two coatings with an IR gun. I can tell you from personal experience that with either coating, touching a bare leg to them will remove a significant patch of skin in a split second.
Definitely worth it IMO. Had it on all my race cars and most of my street rods/muscle cars. Looks great for many years and reduces heat. Cool to the touch very quickly so heat dissipates.
Make sure you coat both inside and outsidem
Different car, but I had a 94 C4 Corvette Coupe with a 383 Lingenfelter conversion including hooker headers--along with insulating the floorboard and firewall, Lingenfelter had the headers ceramic coated to reduce the heat coming off the headers. It was so hot initially that the fiberglass was giving off fumes that you could smell in the interior. The insulation and ceramic coating took care of the problem.
