Have not gotten to the first start of the engine yet. I’m bummed, but everything takes twice as long and life gets in the way. Friday I was assembling the last piece, the fuel system, and as I installed the fuel pump push rod I recalled reading the billet steel roller camshaft required a different push rod, like the distributor gear. The machine shop that did the work said I could use the old steel rod. I telephoned Compcams and technical recommended a bronze tip push rod. I also remembered reading that bronze tips “mushroomed” and sometimes destroyed engines. Called Compcams again and this tech advisor said I needed to use part #COMP 4610 push rod, which is Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coated. It something new called Near Frictionless Carbon. It is not on their website. You have to call customer service and order it. I did order it, but probably won’t arrive until nest Thursday/Friday.
The alternative I found was Howards Cams Lightweight Polymer Chevy Fuel Pump Pushrod 94475.
Is anyone familiar with this? Any experience with push rods on a roller cam would be appreciated. Near Frictionless Carbon or Diamond Like Carbon coatings?
When I needed a harden fuel punp push rod I went to my local GM parts dept and ordered one.
You have a much better GM dealer than me. I haven't been able to get anything from him. Checked on interlocking motor mounts for 70-82 and not available. Been the same for everything else I needed as well.

get them took look up parts from gm performance crate engines
The GM pushrod will not live with comp cams roller cam. Their cam is something called austempered (sp ?). Use what they say or go with electric pump. DoNot run the GM rod, they are not compatible.

Thanks. I'll go with the 2nd comp cams recommendation of Diamond Like Carbon.
I just talked to Comp on Monday about the fuel pump rod for the roller cam I ordered. He said stock pump rod would be fine. I ordered an ARP rod as recommended by my machine shop.
I am no expert but as I understand it you are correct that billet cams require different dist gear and pump push rod. What cam did you get? Not all l aftermarket cams are billet. BUT if yours is, I would not use a stock cam gear or pump shaft. JMHO

It's a VooDoo Lunati which "The Edelbrock Group" (Lunati, Comp Cams, ...) told me is billet steel. But not sure what they say is I called again. I have the upgraded DLC coated so believe I'm good. Thanks
Thanks for posting that. That completes the hat trick. First was bronze tip, second was DLC coated, third was stock. I think Comp Cams needs help.
You may not be referencing the same cam shaft when talking with comp. Even though they are both rollers, they may have different surface treatments necessitating different push rod finishes.
I ran into this problem. I am going to install a brass or bronze comp cam push rod. This is a retro roller cam (not billet). We kept hearing a weird noise and figured out it was coming from the fuel pump. I just replaced it but have not tested the fix yet. The one before was a dorman push rod not sure if its fixed or not. The pump had a lot of side to side motion on the arm.
