Default Operation '63

Getting ready to pull the existing (too mild) 350 that was in the car when we bought it last year.

Working with engine shop to finalize build of new motor, and should (conservatively) be in the 450/400 (hp/tq) range.

Current 350

Have already done Wilwood front disc conversion as well as dual master cylinder (for safety). Will also have Muncie r&r'd along with rear end.

1. Plan to also use stronger drive shaft and rear axles (again just for safety). Has anyone here done same, and if so could you please send suggestions?

2. Any preferences/recommendations better aluminum radiator that still fits stock shroud, mounting points?

Would like to get car off the lift in the next three months, and any advice on above would really help!

Thank You!

Lindy

I used a Dewitt radiator, very happy with it.

Would you mind providing a little detail about your Wilwood brake upgrade?

Default Wilwood Front Disc. Conversion

Pardon the very slow reply - just back from unexpectedly long trip.

The part numbers for the Wilwood kit that we used (which bolts to stock spindles) are:

140-14663 (brake components)
220-7699 (flexible line kit)

Please be aware that this kit will impact the front wheel offsets a bit vs. also changing/updating the spindle to the '65 and onward design.

Disc brakes, as least in the front, would be a nice upgrade with a higher performance engine! [we have four wheel disc on our '63]

These made a huge difference in terms of how the car stops. Also converted to a dual master cylinder at the same time (for safety).

Currently getting the car ready for a stronger little 383, along with removing some weight from the car (aluminum cylinder heads, intake, Li battery, etc.).

Hi Tom,

Thank you for the suggestion.

The car has a 3:36 posi (and M21 Muncie). New motor is fairly mild, and dyno'd at 423/460. I'd like to get the car back on the pavement in the next two months, so may look at a five speed down the road a bit (unless there is a solid vendor that offers a complete/readily available kit?).

In the event of sticking with the M-21, is there a reputable transmission vendor that anyone can recommend to R&R the box?

Appreciate the help.

I have pretty much the same set up
383, 3:36 rear

Went with a tkx from silver sport
what a transformation on the high way
I can't recommend it enough

However I modified the crossmember to be removable to facilitate installation
