There are several threads in the help section. They are working on getting it fixed. Here is a link to one thread.

This has nothing to do with people not using the search function here correctly or choosing to google.

There’s a site glitch that’s interfering with searches right now and the powers that be are working on it.

I thought I was going crazy! I like the advanced search more than the google site: because I can limit it to this specific c1-c2 forum.

Steve,

Thanks for the good scoop. I thought I was loosing my mind. Virtually any search I did here on the C1/C2 Forum recently would only pull results going back a month or so. Google is also useful but not in every case.

If for example you wanted to look at all past threads posted by a certain member here on the Forum I am pretty sure that Google would not give you the results you were looking for.

Ah, but it will. If you use the name and include Corvette Forum in the search term, it’ll bring up that very well.

I agree.
Use Google. It will bring you to relevant sites both within and outside the Forum.
I find the search option absolutely useles even using the "Advanced" option. In the past when I have asked about something I have gotten "this had been discussed, do a search" (which I often have already) and usually get something like "What have you done with your C5 today?"
I've even asked the Moderator for advice.
Google works much better.

Advanced search works fine if you use it as intended. If you are getting C-5 results, it sounds like you're not selecting which forum you want to search (lower right). By scrolling down and highlighting C1-2, your results will be limited to this forum. Likewise, upper left, "Keywords" has an option - give results on that word in every post it's mentioned, or only in thread titles. So if you search thread titles you're more apt to get what you need without having to sift through other stuff. Use whichever you want, personally I'm quite at home with Advanced Search and it seems easy to use for me.

Curious - we know there's a glitch and the IT guys are working on it. While that is going on right now, does google bring up old threads from say a year or two back, or only recent things?

I absolutely highlight C1/C2.
If you have success it's obviously that I don't know how to use it but I am not alone on the confusion.

Correct,
I just did an “advanced” search in Google by entering CorvetteForum.com, username, keyword in the search line. It returned all threads meeting those parameters.
This is a good work around until CF IT gets the internal search engine repaired.

I don’t have any news on that. I know they are working on it.

Steve,

Many thanks to the "powers that be" for their efforts in getting the Forum's search function working again.

Nice to have it back. Cheers,
