56 wheel paint red code
My '56 body is Polo White and Metallic Silver coves.
Two questions:
- Does powder coating lower the value?
- What are the original paint/primer codes for the black primer and red paint for the WHEELS on a 1956 Corvette?
So, I guess I am answering my own original post as I was able to do some experimenting with colors.
Here is the logic.
If the 1956 wheels are the color of the car, for example the Venetian Red 1956 corvette had Venetian Red wheels AND the 1956 Polo White with Metallic Silver coves Corvette had red wheels, then the 1956 Red wheel color IS the Venetian Red GM714. So, my 1956 Polo White with Metallic Silver coves corvette had Venetian Red wheels.
After ordering many sample chips, I believe that I have discovered that Prismatic Powders powder coat USS-10648 Magma Red is the GM 714 Venetian Red equivalent.
(Which is very orange - that I understand is true of the 1956 Venetian Red corvette).
So, I am going to use Cerakote to finish the backs of the wheels a semi-gloss black coat and the front this Magma Red powder coat.
Cerakote will allow the stamps to still be visible because powder coating is much thicker.
Take a look at the match (at least relative to the pictured Venetian Red color)
