All the write ups is removing the whole instrument panel in order to remove speedomer.
Is it possible if the steering column is removed, because I have rack & pinion on my 58, and all the wires are disconnected and moved out of the way, can the speedometer removed from under the dash without moving the whole instrument cluster?
Thanks in advance.
I thought purchasing new speedometer was going to be an easy replacement.
Even with the steering column removed I do not believe there is enough space to remove the speedometer with the pod in place. I have removed a speedometer without completely removing the instrument pod, but I did it by loosening the bolts holding the pod, removing the clamps holding the steering column, tilting the column down, then lift and tilt the pod enough to get the speedometer out.
