63 roadster, and I am about to finally get my fresh built, numbers matching 327/250 back and I want to reset my odometer. Not my trip meter.
How hard is it and where can I find instructions on how it is done?
Thanks for any help offered!
when is the last time the cluster was restored? if not while its out it would be best to have it done. or at least taken apart, cleaned correctly, the backing area painted correctly, and have the gauges calibrated
Was the speedo working the last time you drove the car?
Are you turning the cable clockwise or counter-clockwise?
When you turned the cable, did the speedometer needle move at all? If not you might have pulled the cable out of the back of the speedo. Try turning the cable with your fingers while pushing it into the sheath.

The speedo was working when the engine was pulled and when I was rotating the cable counterclock wise, the speedo was registering speed fine.
thoughts?
Did you try reversing it or forward..if it don' t move in either direction you might have to rr the speedo to reset it..i'm not sure which direction is best

I tried both directions. Counter moved the speedo, clockwise, nothing…
Take the cable loose from the trans and hook up variable speed drill..don't over rev it...
Do you realize that you would have to run that drill for hundreds of hours to make even a bit of a difference?. You need to take apart the odometer to reset it to zero.
