OK, I have my plugs out, pully mark at precisely 0, 90, 180 and 270. The The base of the rocker and the top of the valve are not parallel surfaces. (wider at entry of gauge and then narrower closer to engine.) So, how far in do you slide the gauge? I started out today placing the feeler (using go,no-go) just under to end of the rocker and over the valve stem. Then, I second-guessed myself and wondered if I should be sliding the gauge all the way though. So, I stopped, waiting for confirmation from the experts here.
From his prep work (marking the pully at 90 degree increments), it seems he's using the Hinckley/Duke method... which accounts for the Duntov cam.

I'm not sure what your camshaft profile is, but when I set my performace solid lifter cams I check/set the valve lash as below:
- take all spark plugs out
- set valve lash one cylinder at a time in any order
- set intake lash when the exhaust valve just starts to open.
- set the exhaust lash when the intake valve is almost closed.
