The "351" block came in both 2 and 4 bolt configurations, depending on the horsepower. Solid lifter engines (L-71 , L-89, L-88) got 4 bolt mains, hydraulic lifter engines (L-36, L-68) got 2 bolt mains.

4-bolt blocks had a functional oil cooler passage while 2-bolts did not. Unless you have to anyway, before pulling the pan investigate the following detail from John Hinckley:

On a 2-bolt block, the forward hole isn't drilled, so the drilled oil pressure tap is the hole immediately above the center of the oil filter canister (same hole used for the oil cooler on a 4-bolt block, but smaller).
