A few moths ago there was a discussion regarding rebuilding the Delco Dual Points distributor. Someone's name came up as one who rebuilds these puppies. I know that Lars used to do it but since his family tragedy he seems out of the picture at the moment.
Does anyone remember or know who does these now?
I tired my hand at it a while alc and it is working well enough but I have an issue I would kike to g=have addressed so it seems best to give it to someone who really knows.
Thanks
Eddie
Don Baker is a well know and reliable rebuilder of these old distributors. I'm not near my contacts right now...if no one else posts up his contact info, I will later one.
Mike Zamora is another guy who does this work, and is the guy we recently settled on to restore my friends 69 Corvette distributor. Mike lives in New Mexico. His company is called ReNu-A-Vette. Phone is (505) 717-1140.
Distributor came back in excellent condition. Price was very reasonable.

Had 2 issues with the Minnesota operation. One was only a nasty response to a question regarding condensers. I asked if he did any best practices to assure the parts were reliable, as many reported the Lucas items were often poor and it was hard to get "good ones". He made a nasty reply indicating I was a jerk for questioning his aptitude and quality. This was while he was doing a complete overhaul of my Lucas unit. After I got the thing back I ended up with a flat tow off the interstate because a slightly oversize and not tightened points nut backed off the stud and the points became completely inop - the old Lucas (circa 1963) have multiple piece points which are complex and have several parts. The nut would've needed loc-tite, as it was very loose on the stud. It lasted for a few hundred miles, as it was probably normally tight, but not enough to compensate for being possible the wrong part. I replaced it with an original from old parts stock. I never contacted him to complain, as such a perfect and sainted craftsman couldn't possibly be at fault. The distributor did run great and the car accelerated in a smooth and fantastic manner - I think because it had a perfect curve for my application, so I would use him again, but try not to talk to him and certainly don't question his ability.
