Reversing the plugs on the flasher did not solve the problem. Flasher got hot so I assume the plug was correct to begin with. Gonna try another flasher. Maybe the flasher was defective to begin with.

Original thermal flashers depend upon the current the incandescent lamp draws to snap open and closed from the heat of said current. LEDs draw a fraction of the current your flasher is expecting. You need a "solid state" or "heavy duty" flasher available at any auto parts store.
