Default 63 electroic ign. install

I'm installing an electronic ignition. in my 63. Has two leads, do I need to connect to my ballast resistor or can I just connect it to the coil???

Your instructions should tell if it needs a resistor or direct to 12V, I believe they all are different

Depends on which “Electronic Ignition”

if ‘Pertronix III’. The you need full 12v when Cranking the starter and when in ‘Run’. You will need to bypass the ballast resistor on the firewall (Pink Wire) and draw a second lead from starter circuit

then the red wire from Electronic Ignition in the distributor goes to Coil + along with the pink wires. And the Black wire to Coil -

but it will a important to go EXACTLY by the product’s instructions.

I went with the M&H unit for my 63. It uses one black wire. Looks like a stock setup. It's been in the car for about 20 years, no problems.

Default Electronic

I had an electronic ignition fail on my C1 and it left me stranded. I switched back to good old points and condencer and cary a spare set in the car.
So if the points go belly up, a scew driver and feeler gauge is all I need to get home.

AMEN to that!
Same with me.
Points were good enough at LeMans in the 60's to win a race.
