On my 63 the wiring harness wires along the firewall (harness was replaced about 4 years ago) are held to each otherg by ugly hard plastic ties like you find on Amazon. Id like to replace them with the correct straps which I purchased. Do the factory straps just hold the wires to each other or do they somehow link up with the firewall?
Ive seen a lot of threads on there about placement (helpful) but I cant make out from the pics if the straps are only holding wires to each other or are somehow also attached to the firewall.

Thanks, that is what I purchased. My question is am I just cutting off the existing ties and replacing or do they somehow mate to the firewall? I may be making more of this than there is. But Id hate to put them on wrong.
The white plastic ties hold the wires together-the metal tabs on the engine side fire wall hold the wires and hood release cable up and together on my 63.
The hood release cable is held up to the underside of the body above the firewall by the metal clips bonded to it. Then the wire harness is attached to the hood release cable with the opaque white plastic wire ties.. The ties are fed behind the release cable with Tee up, then pull up the tip of the tie and feed it through the Tee in front.. Leave good space in the loop to allow for some hang of the harness from trom the release cable. Space out the ties as shown in the AIM.
Not to be picky, but the plastic ties straps are actually translucent, not solid white in color. Not sure about Zips, but I know Dr. Rebuild has the translucent type.
