Default Header Help Please

Installing a 383 in the '63, double-checked and this engine has 1/2" raised port heads. Is anyone aware of an off the shelf header that will fit in this situation?

Concerned that going with a "normal" set will result in issues with the tubes/collectors hitting other parts of the engine and/or car. Also need to clear the clutch "Z" arm.

Prefer long tubes vs. block huggers/shorties.

Thank You!

Lindy

I used these Doug’s on my Blueprint 427 sbc with raised ports. Perfect fit with the z-bar, TKO600, and Borgeson power steering.

Thanks Factoid!

I had called Doug's tech. support prior to posting here, and they seemed pretty adamant that their 334 would cause interference issues with the 1/2" raised ports.

Bit confusing...

If you order from Summit, they have easy returns just in case they don’t fit. Doug’s may just say that as a standard statement from their lawyers!

These are the heads on my engine and the exhaust ports are raised.

Sanderson Headers makes headers for the raised port GM heads and D port heads. They may have what you need.

Default headers

Do you have sidepipes? I also have a 383 and used these headers from Summit. No power steering so easy installation. Awesome sound with original sidepipes.

I second Doug's Long Tube Headers as they're on my BP 383 with raised ports.

Thanks all - greatly appreciate the help!

Going with the Doug's, and will document the install once we dyno the engine (this coming week) and the M-21 comes back from being R&R'd.

I used Headman on my AFR 195 heads hooked up to 3" GNM pipes.

Planning on something similar to this kind of side exhaust: headers going into (small) mufflers, then through stock crossmember, into cross over and then out sides.
