Default Wind Screen

Has anyone installed a wind screen on a 1961 or 1962 Corvette?

What is your interpretation of a "wind screen"? I have no clue, unless I was in Great Britain. Dennis

never found a need for one. It's a nice design, compared to other open sports cars. The wrap around windshield must be what does it

Yes, behind the seats.

A wind screen will reduce the amount of wind blowing around your head, makes for a more comfortable ride.

I'm thinking about the new style deflector with lighted Corvette logo. Will have to design brackets that mount under the toneau cover.

They are made for a C3, but not C1 or C2 to my knowledge.
I went down the rabbit hole and couldn't find one for a C2, so I built a couple. I tried mesh like the design of the C3 uses and also polycarbonate on metal frames with a fold down design. Here are a few pictures:

C3 design. Owner bragged about effective buffering of the wind.

Polycarbonate prototype.

Polycarbonate Fold down design

Bolt in brackets for windscreen.

The solid polycarbonate prototype seems to have little effect in buffering the wind, so I built yet another prototype using the screen type material like the C3. The screen type windscreen seemed also to have little effect in buffering the wind. They both are on a shelf waiting to be repurposed or eventually trashed.

I found that GM designed an air foil that was mounted on top of the windshield to guide the wind over the passenger's compartment (see the word document). I only found the rough sketches and could find no company that produced the air foil for any Corvette. I have put the idea behind and it is well toward the bottom of my list of fun things to make. I began a design for headrest style windsceens which is still waiting for time, but low on the fun list.

I have a 68RS Camaro convertible which does not have the "slap in the back of the head" turbulence problem, guessing due to the open rear seat area. This seems to indicate one could remove the decklid behind the Corvette seats and reduce or eliminate the turbulence.

If you chose to pursue it, PM me and I will give you some more pictures and details.
Ron
