I’ve been having issues with percolation on my 57 with dual wcfb carbs. Starts and cruises fine, but stumbles when hot and in slow traffic, especially in 90* temps we’ve been having. After shutdown, gas dribbles out of the accelerator pump nozzles on both carbs for a few minutes. I have read that lowering the float levels might help. My question is, by how much? 1/8”, 3/16” or what? Should this be done on both primary and secondary floats? I do have phenolic spacers under both carbs, and I have used both 10% and non-ethanol with same results. Thanks for any recommendations.
Do you have the intake crossover ports blocked? I never had issues with my 60 until I had the intake off and forgot to block the crossover when I put it back on. Percolation problem became quickly apparent. I lowered the float level about 1/8 which did improve some, but pulling the manifold and blocking the crossover did the trick.
How is the air flow through the shroud and radiator?
Air flow seems fine, Dan. No overheating problems, and car pulls strong. Plugs are burning nice and tan except when I have this percolation issue, then I need to drive it hard to clean up the gas fouling.
