1963 Corvette EFI conversion using Mechanical Tach
I’m thinking about converting my 350/600 Holley to a Holley Sniper EFI system. I’ve read the threads regarding this conversion and it seems like a great way to get rid of the carb but not commit to a full blown LS conversion. I’ve got the body off the chassis and now’s the time to deal with fuel lines, tanks etc.
The threads regarding the conversion lean towards having the ecu controlling the fuel and timing. I’d like that to happen but the 1963 mechanical tach situation is making it difficult. The current distributor is an HEI with mechanical tach drive (a nice unit) which is in the car now. Is there a way it can be used to deliver a signal to the Holley ECU that makes the system all work together?
I just read that yes you can use HEI and run it's signal through Sniper. Just google it and Sniper FB group is helpful
Download the Sniper 2 instructions and read over them using an HEI

The Sniper works great with the HEI working on its own, or if you want to control the timing with the sniper, you can find info online of how to convert the HEI to where its advance is locked out and the timing is controlled by the Sniper. Around $100 in parts
