Default Power Brake Conversion Kit

Hello,
If I manage to purchase the 63 Convertible I have mentioned in the forums I would like to convert to power brakes with a dual circuit master cylinder. If anyone has already done this what conversion kit did you use that fit under the stock hood? I see a kit on Corvette central with a warning that it may not fit under the hood.

You could use the stock ‘63 power pieces but yikes the booster and master cylinder are expensive.

You can just add a booster if you just want power brakes.

I looked at the usual suspect vendors and they all had the 67 brake plumbing in there kits and about a $300+ mark up.. About the only thing you will gain with the 67 brake line plumbing is more line connections and a useless low pressure shuttle valve which can complicate bleeding the brakes. That valve is erroneously referred to as a proportioning valve which it is not as it cannot adjust front to rear brake bias. You need a one inch bore master about $80 at NAPA preferably one that has internal pressure residual valves, a booster costing less than $200 on flea bay, the firewall reinforcement, a couple of 10lb residual pressure valves if the master cylinder does not have them and associated parts less than $125. You need residual pressure valves if retaining the drum brakes as the residual valves keep the shoes from fully retracting. For the price difference I would be ordering the individual parts to make this happen and use the savings on something else you may need. If you decide to order the parts keep in mind 63-65 Corvettes have 3/16 brake lines through out the brake system. If you encounter hood interference angle the booster downward with some stacked washers, many members have done this.

Don't know about 63's but later cars had a notch in the hood for clearance for booster...

NOT MY car or PIC borrowed from the internet...

Thats a 66
So if you're retaining a single reservoir M/C you should have no clearance problems.
If going with a dual reservoir M/C ? You may need to space the top of the booster down slightly.
