Hi
Corvette experts can anyone verify if 1965 came with back up lights standard?

Standard

T86 Back-up Lamps were a $10.80 option in 1964. There was no option for T86 in 1965 per Corvette Black Book.

They only became standard in 66. In 65 they were an option.

You can find answers to most all of your questions on the GM Archives. No better source than the General:

Just 5 away from a Z06 and IIRC, only $16 and gave you both backup lights and a day/night rear view mirror. My ‘65 did not come with this option, although clearly it was a popular option.

T-86 actually became available quite late in the '63 model year... 318 installed at St. Louis according to the NCRS Spec. Guide.

I prefer the safety of having four rather than two tail/brake lights, and they were n/a when I ordered by SWC in early February. When backing into a dark garage I touch the brake pedal enough to light up the brake lights and feather the clutch to the final resting place at idle revs... works great!
