Default Brake Bleeding Adapter

Has anyone used this type of Motive adapter instead of the big plate-type? This looks like it would be a lot easier - no messing with c-clamps or chains and J-hooks. Question is whether it would fit the threads in the MC openings.

Consider a reverse bleeder from Phoenix. No need for any adapters etc. One person job. Very easy. Jerry

I don't think that would work for our master cylinders. I used the flat plate type with 2 big c-clamps from the adapter to the bottom of the master - sealed better and was easier to set up.

That looks like a reasonable alternative, but I already have the Motive bleeder setup, and I would like to hear from guys who are familiar with the product I linked to from Amazon, if there are any.

Why? Have you used it?

Better/easier than what?

Motive makes adapters for many styles of master cylinder - the one in your link looks to be for a master with a threaded reservoir, which our masters don't have. For the dual master like the disc brake cars use, I use the big plate type that you mentioned in your original post (that is the one for our master cylinder design) but instead of using the chains wrapped around the master cylinder, I use 2 big C-clamps to hold it on.

I guess I should have specified what I have. It's a 66 427 with power brakes, using the dual front/rear MC setup. It uses internal threaded caps of the same type as the adapter I linked to. So if the size and thread pitch is correct, it would be a neater solution than the plate-style that most guys are using.

I'm pretty sure somebody here has used it, because I found the link to the product in a past thread. That's how I learned of it.

A few years ago I made my own brake bleeder and machined an adapter for the master cylinder on my car (same unit as on your car). It is essentially the same thing as the part you posted the link for and it works very well. Much nicer than using plates, clamps, etc.

I have that exact bleeder for my 57, which has a threaded master cylinder. Works great!

Thanks guys. I went ahead and ordered it, so I'll report back in a few days how it went on my C2.

I have the same (I think, can’t recall the thread size) for my 62 and it works great. I made a plate adapter for the 63. Still don’t like the chains and plate for the 67 and newer master cylinder but it does work. Also they have a good twist on adapter for the c5/6 era cars that works great.

UPDATE - It works perfectly. That is, after a quick trip to NAPA for a bigger gasket than what it came with.
