'64 auto shifter
Evening.......I believe this is a shifter for a '64 automatic, if it is will it also be correct for previous years using an automatic? Also I am going to offer it for sale, what would be a decent asking price?
I'm going to go out on a limb here to disagree with everyone above and say that I think it is a 64 Powerglide shifter.
To start with, all of the C1 Powerglide shifters (56, 57-58, 59-61 & 62) used a short straight handle. 63 and 64 Powerglide shifters are very similar, and I'm pretty sure it's one or the other. There may be some differences to the base, I just don't know them well enough to be sure, but both used a curved handle, not a straight one with a push button like 65-67 Powerglide shifters did. 63 shifters used a black plastic ball while the 64 used a chrome ball, like the one on he OP's shifter. The chrome ball is the best indicator that it's a 64, and not a 63.
Obviously the shift ***** can be changed, but the 64 chrome ball was a bit of an oddity, the only other Corvette shifter that used that ball was the 56-57 3 and 4 speed. It's not a passenger car shifter because the handle looks too short.
The 63-64 repro shifters go for around $500, so a good used one should be worth at least $250?

Thank you to all that replied. I tried to find any part #, nothing was visible other than an LS on one of the brackets. To me it has the same curve as a 63-64 shifter. It would probably work in a '63 with a P/G and the black ball, I would think the linkage in a '63 auto would be similar to a '64.
The 63 and 64 Powerglide shifters called out in the AIM as Breaket assy have the same p/n's 3830215. This bolts to a unique and rare Powerglide tail shaft housing. The 63 had a black shifter ball and 64 had a chrome shifter ball as mentioned. Noland Adams does state the 64 shifter rod [chrome rod on the bracket asm] is unique to a 64.
Is this shifter foe sale?
Aloha,
