Replacement A/C compressor
I am going to contact Old Air Products tomorrow and ask the following questions:
1. Does you replacement A6 compressor have a super heat switch or a high pressure switch (67s used high pressure switches)?
2. Does your A6 compressor with the high pressure switch also have a 10 o'clock position for the power connector?
3. Can you supply a correct compressor pulley for a 67 Corvette A6 compressor?
4. Is your A6 compressor new or rebuilt? If rebuilt, who does your compressor rebuilds?
OK, what have I not asked Old Air that I should have?
I am also going to get a new dryer and new set of hoses.
Not sure you are making good decision to not buy the ALMA. But you can try alternatives.

For 1967, A-6 did not have superheat switch or high pressure switch. Back plate was not tapped or was factory plugged. It is not hard to "clock" the electrical connector yourself with a couple of tools. They should know compressor clutch pulley diameters, but it would help if you also provide this data/info to them just to be sure.
ALMA was the only company making new A-6 that I know of..........so everything else is going to be "rebuilt". Most of these rebuilds don't always turn out well and reliable long term. Dom Tallarita has experience with them in the past. I would ask them what front seal they are using. The original type seal is now being (very) cheaply made, and has sealing and longevity issues. We did a forensic analysis on one such seal here about 10 years back. I believe Dom used Santec supplied seals for himself, but he also modified them for his use.
I would ask them about their WARRANTY. I believe "Four Seasons" does a lot of the rebuilds for this A-6 compressor within the industry.......although Old Air may do it themselves in house.

EDIT: Buying ALMA compressor is like buying a DeWitts aluminum radiator. Cost is high, but you never have any issues once installed.
I am leaning toward the Pro6ten compressor for the 67. Not correct but it is more value for the money.

I will, if you'll come to Big D and help with the installation and evacuation and recharge. The Pro6Ten is a great compressor. Mine has been on for over ten years with minimal use. I'm a windows down, old school kinda guy. Hence, the lack of urgency to re-install the original that Dom restored for me back in 2019.
Thanks for the offer.
. If I still lived in New Orleans I just might make the trip........and do the Texas NCRS October Regional as well.
. I used to be a Texas Chapter member and attend their chapter and regional events. I stopped when Louisiana Chapter was formed and became a Louisiana Chapter Member and Officer. We need to tell Ed that your seal cover is not a standard part that comes with the Pro6Ten. Don't know if the Pro6Ten even needs one. The original A-6 compressors certainly do. You may or my not remember that I helped to design these covers years ago. I supplied an older prototype to a guy in Ohio, who then tweeked the design, had a shop build him 50 or 100 for local sales, and then apparently sold the design or the sales rights to Ecklers Corvettes. When I left New Orleans a few months ago, I gave my originals and a few of the revised ones to my friend Stick to use for his and friends cars. Stick has a 69 350/350 HP original red/red convertible car with factory air.
All my AC equipment and R12 supplies etc were left with friends in New Orleans.
Take care my friend.

I was hoping you were going to be in Frisco...hope all is well.
AC DELCO has a drier for R12/R134a that looks very much like original. ZIP sells them. Just paint it black. Or you can buy a rebuilt original from a few places. Pace Car Jeff on Ebay is one that I would recommend. Or Old Air can rebuild your old drier if it is original type and you still have it. They may even sell them outright.
