Default Steering column guys……….

……..step right in.
I’m currently replacing the steering column in my ‘57 with an Ididit column. I know I have read a ‘62 column is a bit shorter but my search skills are not working very well. My question is….what is the distance from the dash to the spoke on the steering wheel supposed to be? I am standard size 6’ 200# so I have no issues there.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe a picture will help. Right now I have it at 9 1/2 inches from dash to steering wheel spoke.

I don't know about the c1 but in a c2 you can shorten/cut the length of the steering shaft to get desired feel of steering wheel more closer to dash to give people with long arms or just bigger people more room basically its adjustable in length is what im trying to say .

Thanks for the thought. Column would be hard to shorten but that’s not the problem. I can move it in or out of the engine compartment as necessary as I have not cut the intermediate shaft yet. My problem is I don’t have the seats to put in the car to feel the distance I need. I thought I would just start with the same distance as stock and measure from dash to s/w spoke.
