Gents, if I restore my grille, can you tell me what areas are supposed to be chromed? In addition to the bezel that goes around it, are the leading edges of the egg crate also chrome? I have highlighted those areas in red for this question in the picture. Thx!
Yes ... you have it right. Beveled leading-edges + verticals + surround & a very tedious task. IIRC, I cleaned thoroughly, applied paint throughout, then used acetone or similar on rag to remove the gray color off of aforementioned areas before paint cured hard. Not great photos, but you get the idea. Unlike 63-4 MYs, all bumper components & attaching bracets/braces need to come off, then back on. Getting everything level & plumb afterwards in not pleasant & a helper required to avoid paint scratches.
