Time has come to change from drum brakes to front disk brakes. On my 63. I'm running a set of Cragers SS wheels will I still be able run the Crgers after change over. Thanks in Advance for any info. Merry Christmas
If you use 65 and up GM brake calipers, rotors, and spindles, you will need spacers.
This is what I did about 15 years ago on my 63. New rotors, calipers and wheel bearings also changed to a dual master cylinder at the same time. All stock Corvette parts, very happy with the results. Needed to switch to disc brake rims.
I thought swapping 65 and up on 63/64 drum cars moved the tire out some? There is a 'zero offset " kit that uses a new hub, an 11" 79-81 trans Am 11" rear rotors and a GM D 52 single piston caliper.ZERO OFFSET
INSTALL SEAL AFTER PACKING INNER BEARING. INSTALL SEAL WITH CLOSED(METAL) SIDE FACING YOU. I’VE FOUND USING A SHORT 2X4 (6 TO 9 INCHES LONG)SET ON TOP OF SEAL AND POUND IN WITH HEAVY HAMMER—BE CAREFUL TO INSERT EVENLY AND DO NOT DISTORT SEAL. INSERT FULLY-SEAL WILL PROTRUDE OUT SLIGHTLY (APPROX .050”) FROM HUB WHEN FULLY INSTALLED.
WHEN HUB IS INSTALLED ON SPINDLE THE SEAL WILL BE VERY CLOSE TO SPINDLE BUT DOES NOT TOUCH IT, THERE IS ABOUT 30-40 THOUSANDS CLEARANCE BETWEEN SEAL AND SPINDLE.
