That's exactly what I did. You can get a screwdriver that is just the right width and blade thickness and the Dremel cutoff makes a perfect slot.
As has been said, you can make one fairly easily or, if you have some snap ring pliers, they work great. I use snap ring pliers for these type of nuts often. You have to hold them at the correct opening which is the only hard part. Headlight switch, sunvisors, almost anywhere that I run into these. Specific tool works best, but one can find ways when you don't want to wait.
