Default Assembly Date verification

I would appreciate knowing the assembly date of my 66. Does J25 indicate June 25, 1966?

Thanks to everyone who responds.

That code is the build date for the body, not the assembly date of the car. If the body is an AO Smith body the build date would be May 25th. If it's a St. Louis body the build date is June 25th. The letter in front of the body number on that Trim Tag will be either an "A" or an "S" indicating AO Smith or St. Louis.

I don't know much about this subject, but I am taking this info from Chevrolet by the Numbers. It said depending where the car was built. If in St Louis the J meant June If it was AO Smith J meant May. Someone will chime in to tell you how to determine the location. Please don't chastise me for this information.

Sorry someone beat me to it.

Thanks for the info. There is an A in the body number.

I appreciate your responses.

Since it is an A, May 66 for the body build. If you want the assembly date you can use the birthday calculator and enter the last 5 digits of the Vin for an approximate assembly date, or you can post the last 5 here and someone will answer for you. It will be some time in June in any case for either location.
