Here is dad's 67 427/390 auto and ac cluster. I know it's a glare but the redline starts at 5500

It’s hard to see but it looks like the yellow starts at 55 and Red lines at 6000
I have another 427, 390 stick and that starts at five grand and red lines of 5500

1966 427/390s had a lower orange/red zone on the tach than '67 and up.
You can see my '67's tach zone in this pic:

This has been brought up a few times in the past, but with no real answer for the difference in red lines for identical engines.
I have an interest here as I've had two of these with four speeds which we know are no different than the auto. Curious to know
what was GM's reasoning behind this?

I have No idea I actually thought maybe somebody had change the tachometer but it’s all original. Now that I see The gentleman’s post above , my tack is the same. Red line is 6000 but like I stated I have a 427, 394 speed aLao and red line is 5500.
Thanks Don

Don’t worry about it, the valves will likely float before you get to either number.
