My drivers side mirror died. I ordered a repro. In the meantime, my very handy neighbor fixed the one that was broken.
Can I use the one my neighbor fixed as a right side mirror? The only thing that might be different is the allen screw would be on the outside rather the inside on the left.
Other than the exposed Allen screw, there's nothing to keep you from using a 63-67 short base mirror on the passenger side. There's no nut plate in the door so you'll need to use a couple Wellnuts to secure it, which is also how Chevrolet installed right side mirrors on Corvettes.

I added a RH outer to my 66 rag top. I pull a little Guy 5' camper with the car. So, I bought USA made RH kit that comes with all the parts needed to install it. I carefully located the mounting point and drilled the holes as needed. I got really lucky. The underside plate from memory is about 4" long and 1 1/2" wide with the edges curled so its ridged. That plate just barley cleared the inner upper steel support brace for the doors outer panel. Before you drill your holes first make sure the brace will fit parallel to the door brace inside your door. The inner door panel must be removed to get inside the door. The inside lock button is a real bear to remove its clip as the button is recessed into the vinal door panel. Poor design by GM expert. I love my RH mirror even when not towing....(-: Big-K Ohio This clip is so hard to remove, I added a small ring to it to grab onto next time! done
