My 56 Corvette still overheats after replacing the radiator, water pump, and adding an electric fan and shroud. I thought I had possibly an air pocket. I feel the block through the upper hose and the radiator through the filler. Then I connected the hose and continue to fill the radiator. I’ve tried it with and without a thermostat. Nothing seems to change. Any ideas?
sxmbob - Welcome to the Corvette Forum. It would help if you can fill in some of the blanks for us. Is this a new development or a constant issue? Any other work done, engine rebuild, etc?
When you say overheating, is it just a high reading on the dash gauge or verified by an IR gun? Any coolant loss?
Heat riser working as it should? Radiator cap been tested yet?

I had overheating at idle. I tried everything. New radiator 3 different new fan blades, timing…
Most importantly, verify that your temperature gauge is reading the correct engine block temperature.
After months of debugging, I finally came to the conclusion that the fans weren’t pulling enough air and fan speed is directly tied to rpm. Realized that the engine was idling too low. Should be ~800rpm. (I was at 500rpm)
Have you checked to see if your fans are pulling air through the radiator. sometimes they are wired wrong and blow the wrong way....
Are your fan blades oriented the correct way??
Is your water pump correct and not a reverse flow ??
Simple things first.
Personally I have seen electric fans cause more problems than they ever fixed.....
