Default Alternator relocation

I am restoring a 65 roadster. When purchased the alternator was on the left hand sidewith no air. I installed the engine wiring and read that the alternator should be on the right side.
I purchased the brackets, but the right side alt. support doesn't line up with any of the exh. bolts.

Do I need a right hand exhaust with holes on it for the alt. bracket?

Thanks for any advice, :steering:

yes unless you want to go with custom brackets...buy a used ex manifold, they're plentiful if you're not picky about the #s

My comment may be inappropriate because you did state that you were ‘restoring’ your ’65. But, if it is a driver and you don’t necessarily need it to connect the way the factory did it then…

I installed headers on mine and I did not care for the idea that a small 7/16 bolt was going to hold the header and the alternator bracket (and the alternator itself) on to the head. I did that before on another corvette and the header always leaked. Anyway, this time I made a bracket (with the help of a friend that was very good at welding) that connected to the three tapped holes that are on the front of the head. Below is a picture of the bracket already mounted. It doesn’t show the entire bracket but, you get the idea. I think that it’s a very clean alternative. I even rounded the corners to make if ‘flow’ with the shape of the head.

If you are interested let me know and I could take it apart and give you better picture. I may even have the drawing with the dimensions.

Sorry, the picture didn't come up. It has been a while since I have posted a picture. Either the rules have changed or I did something wrong that I can't see. I will follow up later if you are still interested. I just put the text in quotes just so others can see the format and tell me what I did wrong.
Gary

Great! Now the info between the quotes will not display. I am so dumb!

That's a slick bracket, but it won't work on a '65 - no holes in the ends of the heads on a '65 :nonod:
